The Best Season

Ten thousand flowers in spring, the moon in autumn,
a cool breeze in summer, snow in winter.
If your mind isn’t clouded by unnecessary things,
this is the best season of your life.

by Wu Men Hui-k’ai

I came across the poem above and thought it was so beautiful I had to share it with you.

As a North American living in Australia, the seasons have been confusing to me. Christmas in Summer. Easter in Autumn. Halloween in Spring. If we were to celebrate the 4th of July here, it would be in the middle of Winter. As a result, I’ve found myself a little unsure about the seasons. With that said, I have enjoyed all of them. Every season has its joys and pleasures.

I don’t know about you, but I have wasted a lot of time longing for whatever is coming next. I have wasted too much time wishing for the next season when the season I’m in is all around me. It doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to be right here, right now.

This season, the one that is happening right now, is the best season.
